At Mentors of Rush County Empowering Youth (M.o.R.E. for Kids), we believe that every child deserves the chance to thrive. Our mission is to transform the lives of Rush County youth through purposeful, one-on-one mentoring relationships with caring adults. By dedicating just 16 hours each month, you can make a lasting impact on a young person's life—and enrich your own in the process.
Becoming a mentor with M.o.R.E. for Kids is simple, meaningful, and completely free. There are no program fees to participate. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and community partners, mentors are invited to join monthly activities and events at no cost. You just bring your time, consistency, and willingness to show up.
The commitment is just 16 hours per month. That breaks down to about four hours a week, time that can include attending monthly activities, spending one on one time with your mentee, or participating in community events together. Many mentors tell us that what begins as a commitment quickly becomes one of the most rewarding parts of their month.
Mentors must be at least 16 years old and ready to be a positive, dependable presence in a young person’s life. If you have the heart to listen, encourage, and guide, you have what it takes.
We also know that life is busy. That is why we offer flexibility, including the option for two adults, friends, or a couple to share mentoring responsibilities for one mentee. Sharing a mentee can make scheduling easier while still providing the consistency and support every child deserves.
If you have ever thought, “I wish I could make a difference, but I do not know if I have enough time,” this program was designed with you in mind. Sixteen hours a month can change a life, including your own.
Children in our community face numerous challenges, from academic pressures to social and emotional hurdles. Having a consistent, supportive mentor can make all the difference.
Mentors provide:
Your involvement can lead to improved academic performance, better social skills, and a brighter future for a child in Rush County. All mentors must be at least 17 years of age.
